Ashley X underwent surgery to prevent further growth and signs and symptoms of puberty. She has severe physical and learning disabilities. From Seattle, her parents and doctors performed the surgery even though it is illegal.
Although her parents defended their decision in both 2006 and 2008, in which they said the surgery 'prevents breast and menstural discomfort', I leave you with one question:
IS IT ETHICAL?
Because I understand why the parents did it.
Its just...... Was it just for Ashley's sake? Or others too?
Because being a disabled girl myself, it breaks my heart that something like this could happen in the first place. Its like being stripped of womanhood. For me, its unethical'
Mind you, this is the USA we're talking about!!!! They're advancing in science WAY too fast!!!
I mean, they're illegally producing DESIGNER BABIES!!!! Seriously? The thought of it makes me sick!
I understand if you want to get rid of diseased or genes that give you conditions, like cancer or cystic fibrosis for a healthier life, but like, choosing the eye or hair colour of your baby? or even GENDER? That thought disgusts me!
Your genes partially make who you are!
Can you imagine a childs reaction if, and i'm sure they will, when they find out that they're a designer baby?????????? When they realise that their looks and attributes were actually SELECTED by their parents? They would never feel loved for who they are...... because even That was created!
Bottom line?
USE SCIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNOLOGY ETHICALLY USA!
